The OKC Zoo has a special volunteer program for teens ages 14-18.  The program, which is called the Junior Curator program, allows teens an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a Zoo setting to learn more about Zoo careers.  In addition to hands on volunteering and learning, we try to help the students develop skills in time management, scheduling, responsibility, communication, interviewing, and other life skills.
We have already selected our team for the 2014-2015 year.  The next opportunity to apply for the program will be in May of 2015.  The applications will be available May 1- May 30 on our website (OKC Zoo Volunteers).  The applicants apply in May and receive interviews in June and July.  The accepted applicants volunteer from October through the following August.  We are only able to accept about 40 teens in the program each year.  I’ve attached the 2014-2015 FAQ sheet for your information.  The 2015-2016 FAQ sheet will be loaded to our website in January.
